Definition: EASI is a standardized tool for measuring the extent (area) and severity of atopic eczema (atopic dermatitis).
Purpose: It helps clinicians assess and monitor the severity of eczema in patients and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
The calculator uses the formula:

Instructions: For each body region, enter the severity score (0-3) and area score (0-6). The calculator will compute the total EASI score.
Q1: How is severity assessed?
A: Severity is rated 0-3 for four signs: redness, thickness, scratching, and lichenification. The average is used.
Q2: How is area assessed?
A: Area scores: 0 (0%), 1 (1-9%), 2 (10-29%), 3 (30-49%), 4 (50-69%), 5 (70-89%), 6 (90-100%).
Q3: Why different multipliers for body regions?
A: Multipliers account for different surface areas of body regions in adults.
Q4: Is EASI used for children?
A: Yes, but area multipliers may differ for younger children with different body proportions.
Q5: What's the maximum EASI score?
A: The theoretical maximum is 72 (all regions with maximum severity and area).
